ATO - Obtaining your individual Tax Return information

How to obtain your most recent Tax Return Information

For Initial Consultations: To prepare for your initial consultation, we require your most recent Individual Tax Return information. This information is important for us to work out how to maximise your tax deduction and increase your retirement savings.

 

 

OPTION 1: OBTAIN TAX RETURN/S FROM ACCOUNTANT

The easiest way to obtain your Individual Tax Return for the most recent financial year is to ask your accountant to email you this information. Your accountant will ordinarily email your Individual Tax Return to you in PDF format.

 

STEP 1: Ask your accountant to provide you with your most recently lodged Individual Tax Return/s

Your Individual Tax Return will likely look similar in appearance to the document below and will be several pages in length.

STEP 2: For Initial Consultations, Upload / drag and drop the PDF document of your Individual Tax Return into the Client Information form.

STEP 2: For clients, please send us the document via email.

 

Once you have uploaded your Individual Tax Return/s above into the form, you have completed the necessary steps and don’t need to read on. The information below is only if you cannot obtain your Individual Tax Returns from your accountant.

 


OPTION 2: OBTAIN TAX RETURN/S FROM ATO (VIA MYGOV)

If your accountant cannot provide you with your Individual Tax Return information, you can obtain the information by following the steps.

 

STEP 1: Log into myGov and access the ATO portal to obtain your Individual Tax Return information

TROUBLESHOOTING: If you have not set up a MyGov account yet, please visit this link that explains how to.

 

 

 STEP 2: Click on TAX then > LODGEMENTS then INCOME TAX.

 
 

STEP 3: Click on HISTORY then > VIEW DETAILS.

 

STEP 4: You will see an image similar to the image below. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Print-friendly version.

 

 
 

STEP 5: Click on Print.

 
 
 

STEP 6: Select Microsoft Print to PDF then click on Print.

STEP 7: Save your PDF document to your computer before uploading it

We suggest naming the file individual-tax-return or similar but it’s up to you what you name the PDF document.

STEP 8: For Initial Consulations, Upload / drag and drop the PDF document of your Individual Tax Return into the Client Information form.

IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF A COUPLE, REMEMBER TO DO THIS FOR EACH PERSON.

 

Once you have uploaded your Individual Tax Return/s above into the form, you have completed this step and don’t need to read on.
